The Roundup Riders (3R) organization is dedicated to the perpetuation of the Western Tradition associated with the relationship between the American Cowboy and his horse.

Our annual, week long horseback ride in the Colorado Rockies is a challenging experience emphasizing horsemanship and horsemastership in an environment of sportsmanship and camaraderie. This experience engenders respect for the Western Tradition among warm and enduring friends.

Vital to this effort is the selection of first year guests (Colts) who are sincere individuals with a genuine ability and desire to contribute to the commitment embodied in the “Spirit of the Ride”.

Equally important, the organization is strongly dedicated to the promotion, advancement and prosperity of the State of Colorado and the preservation and utilization of our public lands and trails for the benefit of all citizens.

About the 3R

Roundup Riders of the Rockies members come from 15 different states ranging from Connecticut to California. This diverse group includes ranchers, farmers, businessmen, physicians, law enforcement officers, retired members of the United States Forest Service, attorneys, university professors, veterinarians, retired military, and other professionals.

All members share a common appreciation and respect of the American West, conservation, environment, and love of horses (and the occasional mule).

The Roundup Riders of the Rockies annual “Big Ride” occurs over a seven day period in or around Colorado. Each Fall riders gather for “The Aspen Ride,” a day of good riding and comradeship with family members and guests.

Roundup Riders of the Rockies were instrumental in establishing the Citizen of the West fundraiser which supports the National Western Scholarship Trust which annually awards over 80 scholarships to undergraduate and medical students from rural Colorado and Wyoming.
